Hideki "Godzilla" Matsui
Bats: Left
Throws: Right
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 210 lbs.
Born: June 12, 1974 in Ishikawa, Japan

The most feared hitter from Japan along with the legendary Sadaharu Oh, Matsui was a three time MVP in the Japanese Central League while playing for the Yomiuri Giants. The nickname "Godzilla" began and grew back in 1992 after Matsui making the last of four appearances in the Koshien Tournament, where in one game, opposition pitchers were so scared of him that they deliberately walked him five times, a feat unheard of in high school baseball. In 2003, Matsui became the first, and still the only Yankee to hit a Grand Slam in his first game at Yankee Stadium. Pictured here is his 2005 Leaf Picture Perfect insert card, showing his picture perfect swing.
