Attended the same elementary and middle school as Chien-Ming Wang, the Dodgers first spotted Hu at the 2002 World Junior Championships held in Canada, where he helped Taiwan won the silver medal and starred by hitting .474 with four homers and 12 RBIs in eight games from the leadoff spot. Truth to be told, Hu is known more as a top notch defensive player.
