"Best of the Best."
Japan won the 1st World
Baseball Classic, by defeating
Cuba
10 - 6. Japan's starter, Daisuke Matsuzaka won the MVP
honor by pitching 4 solid innings, with his only mistake of
the game coming at the leadoff hitter of Cuba Eduardo Paret,
who smacked a HR. Congratulation to Japan for winning the WBC.

Japan crowned Classic's first champ
"Table Turned."
South Korea, which played
a flawless defense as they have zero
error during the entire WBC, strong pitching staff with ERA of 1.33,
and clutch hitting by its players finally have their luck run out
last night. Japan, became the team that play great defense,
shutting down opposition hitters, and opened the scoring with
5 runs in the 7th inning and went on to dethrone and hand the
South Koreans its first loss and send them home packing with
the
6 - 0 victory. Both Koji Uehara and Jae Seo (Dodgers)
pitch marvelously, but it was the timely decision made by Japan
manager Sadaharu Oh and changed the game's momentum.
Ichiro (Mariners) had 3 hits, and Aki Otsuka (Rangers) shuts
the door for the win. Good Luck to Japan as they will take on
Cuba in the final tomorrow night at 9 ET. Represent Asia well.

Third time's the charm for Japan
"Asian Clash."
Team Japan and Team South
Korea will clash again for the
3rd time in the WBC tonight on ESPN at 10 pm ET. Will South Koreans
beat its Asian rival for the 3rd straight time, or will the Japanese
finally beat its Asian rival and advance to the Championship?

"Korea Wins Again."
Believe it, South Korea is the
best team in the WBC right now.
Chan Ho Park pitched 5 shutout innings, and Jong Boem Lee
hit a clutch 2 runs double in the 8th inning to help the team past
Japan again, this time by the score of
2 - 1. South Korea's
pitching staff compiles ERA of 1.33, the best in the Classic.

"WBC 2nd Round."
Japan lost to the United
States
4 - 3 under a controversial call
where the home plate umpire reversed a call. While Japan's
Asian Counterpart Korea beat United States
7 - 3 as they stay
as
the only unbeaten team in the World Baseball Classic.

"Chitown Tornado."
Hideo Nomo signed a Minor
League contract with the defending
World Champion Chicago White Sox, and currently training with
them in their Spring Training facility in Tucson, Arizona.

"More on WBC."
China
showed why it shouldn't be in the WBC along
with South Africa over teams like Colombia or
Nicaragua who actually have decent
baseball players
as they got crushed by Japan
18 - 2, by South Korea
10 - 1,
and by Taiwan
12 - 3. While Taiwan will not advance to the
next round as
Japan beat them easily
14 - 3. In the final match
to determine the #1 team
in Pool A, South Korea's slugger
Seung-Yeop Lee, who plays professionaly in Japan smacked
a 2 run homer off reliever Hirotoshi Ishii to help
the South Korean
in a come from behind
3 - 2
victory, what an exciting game!

"World Baseball Classic, Or Not."
World
Baseball Classic has began as action gets underway
in Pool A which the games are played in Tokyo, Japan.
Taiwan lost a tough game
2 - 0 to South Korea. The depth of
the Korean staff
proved to be too much for Taiwan to handle
where 4 Major League
Korean pitchers (Jae Seo, Byung-Hyun Kim,
Dae-Sung Koo, Chan Ho Park) combined for a 5 hits shutout.
In the other game, it was no surprise
that Japan cruises by
China without any problem, as they won by the margin of
18 - 2,
and the game was called after 8 innings thanks to the mercy rule.
Ichiro went 1 for 6 with a RBI and two runs scored. One thing
they need to change for the next WBC in 2009 is get rid of the
ridiculous pitch count rule. No starting pitcher is going to pitch
more than 4 innings with the current pitch count rule they've.

"I'm
back..."
After
2 months of hiatus, I’m back from my trip to Taiwan. Things have
changed a lot since the last time I was there (12 years ago). I’ll
post
some pictures next weekend when I get the time. Baseball season
is almost here as Spring Training and World Baseball Classic
are set to
start in another 2 weeks. Japanese veterans Shinji Mori
(Devil Rays), Yusaku Iriki (Mets),
and Takashi Saitoh (Dodgers)
have
all signed to play in America,
and couple Korean/Taiwanese
amateur
players are signed and set
to play in the Minors.
Akinori Otsuka and Keiichi
Yabu will both switch league and teams
as Otsuka was traded to the Rangers and Yabu
signed as a
free agent with the Rockies. More updates coming
next weekend.
